Better Buses For Chamonix
Thursday, February 28th, 2008

The French ski holiday resort of Chamonix is set to benefit from better transport, following the agreement of a seven-year plan.
The Ski Club of Great Britain reports that authorities have renewed a contract with Mont Blanc Bus to replace 12 buses out of the fleet of 32.
A more regular service will also be put in place to encourage the use of public transport from Servoz to Vallorcine.
"Chamonix is pretty much unique in Europe, in being divided into separate mountains rather than a single cohesive ski area … so the service in between them needs to be as efficient as humanly possible," Jonathan Trigell, a freeskier and writer told the Ski Club.
He added that the main problem is that most skiers and snowboarders look to use the bus service at the same times - first thing in the morning and at the end of the day when the light begins to fade.
This results in crowded buses at these two times and therefore more frequent services at these periods would be beneficial.
Chamonix is a town in eastern France and is popular for Britons taking ski holidays.
