Holidaymakers packing their bags and planning their skiing holidays may be inspired to opt for skiing clothing made of natural wool in favour of synthetics, after the material received enthusiastic support from champion skier Marja Persson.
The Swedeish freeskier won the recent women’s ski division at Verbier, having picked up top spot at the Engadin Snow Contest last year and uses wool clothing from Australian firm I/O Biocompatibles.
In advance of her winning run at the O’Neill Xtreme by Powerade event, Ms Persson said: "Thanks for the Aussie wool, I’m loving it."
She added that that she had recently attempted to return to synthetic materials but couldn’t do so after using the natural material.
The Verbier tourism office recommends the slopes for those on ski breaks, with the winter season running from December to the end of April.
Budding snowboarders s can also take advantage of snowboarding instructors available at the ski resort.
