Vonn Wins Downhill Title And Claims Top-ten Spot Overall

Britons who have taken ski holidays in Canada this winter to enjoy the skiing World Cup may have seen American skier Lindsey Vonn secure the downhill title after taking second place in the Whistler event this weekend.
Meanwhile, the win saw Vonn move up from tenth position in the super G to secure a position of sixth overall in the super combined.
Vonn is now followed by Austria’s Nicole Hosp, 54 points below. Maria Riesch meanwhile, finished first in the super G and the slalom.
"It turned out OK. But It was pretty tough. In the combined I really need that time gap like I had in St. Anton. I need a little bit of a buffer because I’m skiing pretty well in slalom but I’m not winning the run," Vonn commented, according to the Sports Network.
The news comes after British snowboarder Zoe Gillings clinched a medal in the World Cup snowboard event.
The 22-year-old won silver in the snowboard cross race at the FIS World Cup in Japan on Friday.
