Tignes To Host Ultimate Ski Event

Tignes Airwaves is to be held at the French ski resort in January 2008, it has been announced.
From January 7th until January 11th 2008, 150,000 skiers and snowboarders are set to take part in some alternative snow sports.
Also, 2008 will see the introduction of a female-only event for the first time. The invitation-only snow sport competition offers participants the chance to win a €150,000 (£107,000) prize.
In other ski news, the 2010 Winter Games venues at the Whistler Sliding Centre, Whistler Olympic Park and Whistler Creekside have now been completed.
"We are following through on our promise to offer athletes the chance to train and compete at a world-class level more than two years in advance of the Games," John Furlong, chief executive officer of the Vancouver Organising Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The venue will host alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, figure skating, Nordic combined, ski jumping, snowboarding and short track speed skating during the Winter Games.
