Monday, February 26th, 2007
An annual Swiss ski event which recently took place has been hailed as a success by its organisers.
The Verbier Ride 07, an international free ski event, consisted of rail riding and big air events and took place over four days at the end of last week.
Athletes at the event went head-to-head in the Rail Jam competition and Beanie Milne-Home of Great Britain won first prize in the women’s event.
The Big Air event saw Russ Henshaw and Aurelien Fournier share the number one spot, with Audrey Faivre winning first place for the women.
Verbier Ride is now in its seventh year running and plans are currently underway for 2008.
Verbier is a popular ski resort among celebrities and is situated in the Swiss Alps, making up part of the Four Valleys ski area which also encompasses Nendaz, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz, and Thyon.
It recently received 30 cm of fresh snow and offers other activities that might appeal to those on a family ski holiday such as dog sledding.
