Wrangle the Chute At Kicking Horse

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is getting set to premier a new big mountain ski/snowboard showdown with its own unique cowboy twist this coming weekend.
‘Wrangle the Chute’, which the Canadian resort has dubbed, ‘the ultimate freeride showdown’ will be staged at Heaven’s Door Yurt at ‘High Noon’ on February 7th and 8th.
“Wrangle the Chute is a freeride showdown like none other in the west,†said Kicking Horse Mountain Resort President, Steve Paccagnan. “By combining chute, terrain park and bronco riding, Wrangle the Chute is going to twist some heads!â€
There’s a $1,000 cash reward fort best in show and over $1,500 in loot up for grabs, with Rossignol Freeride team members scheduled to take [part and make it quite a show for visiting holidaymakers.
The showdown combines skiers and snowboarders into a single ‘chute out’ down Kicking Horse’s signature runs off the ridge.
The runs will be layered with numerous rodeo style jib features and a buckaroo ‘step-up’ at the bottom of the course.
Athletes will finish their run by saddling up and holding on as their friends and foes try to buck them off the bungee activated bronco.
Spectators can get energized with a Red Bull, appease the appetite with a burger and relax with a Big Rock brew right from the center of it all – the yurt patio.
Apres ski later in the afternoon will include the second annual Big Mountain Centre Texas Hold’em challenge starting at 5:30pm.
