World’s Luckiest Snow Bum Heading To Sun Peaks
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009
A young Brazilian man has won the worldwide contest staged by Canadian ski resort Sun Peaks to find the ‘ultimate snow bum.’
29 year old Thiago Lucena is the official Sun Peaks Snow Bum.
The contest, launched two months ago, invited wannabe snow bums to submit an online video stating their case to be the winning bum.
The prize was a three month stay at the top ski area in British Columbia, with unlimited skiing and accommodation in some of the resort’s best lodging.
The contest initially attracted more than 50 entries from around the world including France, Australia, Canada, the UK and the United States.
The entries were narrowed down to 20 finalists from 7 countries at the start of November and freelance videographer Thiago, from São Paulo, proved his passion for skiing and desire to bring the snow culture to Brazil with his video entry and subsequent written assignment and an interview.
“In the end, Thiago embodies everything we were looking for in the first Sun Peaks Snow Bum. From the originality of his video and his excitement following the contest, to his passion for skiing and desire to tell stories about Sun Peaks to the world, Thiago stood out to the judges,†says Christina Antoniak, Destination Marketing Manager with Tourism Sun Peaks.
Thiago will arrive at Sun Peaks in early January for his three month stay. The resort will be throwing a huge welcome party for him on Tuesday, January 5 from 6 – 9pm at Masa’s Bar + Grill.
