Unique Peak To Peak Gondola Set To Break Records
Wednesday, April 18th, 2007
Britons booking trips to Canada on a Christmas ski holiday next year may be among the first to ride the newly-built Peak to Peak Gondola at Whistler Blackcomb due for completion in December 2008.
The record-breaking gondola connecting two mountains spans 4.4 km and takes a speedy 11 minutes to transport you from the lodge to the slopes on a skiing holiday.
Dave Brownlie, chief operating office of Whistler Blackcomb, said: "The Peak to Peak Gondola will create a dramatically enhanced experience that no other mountain resort in North America, possibly the world, can offer."
He added that the gondola would double the options for those on a Canada ski holiday to gain access to top-quality skiing terrain from any starting point on the mountains.
The Whistler ski resort is situated in the coastal mountains of British Columbia, approximately 70 miles from Vancouver and is made up of the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
