Snow in Western North America
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008
Heavy snow has blanketed western North America over the past week, greatly improving conditions in resorts from California to British Columbia.
In Alberta, Banff-Lake Louise was a winter wonderland this Christmas, as Santa delivered 26cm of fresh powder over 48 hours, making for a truly festive week.
Even more snow is forecast for the rest of this week and into the new year.
Mt. Norquay and Sunshine Village at Banff both welcome in the new year with torchlight parades on December 31st. Mt. Norquay’s parade will be seen from the town of Banff itself, just minutes away.
Night skiing and riding starts on January 2nd at Mt. Norquay. New for this season, it offers the only night skiing in Banff, including a fully-lit terrain park, will be open Wednesday nights as well as Fridays due to popular demand.
In addition Lake Louise Ski Area has just announced the launch of Downhill at Dusk, an action packed after hours event offering first tracks on freshly groomed runs, along with a smorgasbord of food and entertainment.
The event will take place every Friday for the remainder of the 2008-09 season, from January 9th.
