Ski And Snowboard Festival To Kick Off In Whistler
Wednesday, April 11th, 2007
Whistler is to play host to another ski and snowboard extravaganza this year as the 12th Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival takes place in the Canadian town from April 13th-22nd.
A cross-country ski race is set to take place on April 15th, kicking off with a gruelling hillsprint from the base in Whistler.
The fittest athletes will make a dash through the qualifying round - which is 75m straight up - while half of the pack will be eliminated.
Also on the schedule this year for the first time is a sport inspired art exhibition.
Thirty artists in a 150 plus piece installation, offering canvas, sculpture, skate decks, film and graffiti, will take place in Brave Art, the festival’s art show. The exhibition will launch at the festival before travelling across Canada.
11th Annual DogFest will also take place at the event, with prizes awarded for the best dressed dog and dog owners look-a-like contest.
