More Terrain Opens At Marmot Basin
Thursday, December 4th, 2008
Canada’s Marmot Basin ski area near Jasper in the province of Alberta will open more ski runs this weekend.
Another eight runs will open in the “Upper Area” at Marmot Basin on Saturday, December 6 bringing the total number of runs open to 21.
Marmot Basin was one of the first ski areas in the country to open in November following good early season snow.
The eight new runs opening on Saturday include “Highway 16”, “Showoff”, “Milk Run”, “Elevator Chutes”, “Paradise”, “Punchbowl”, “Showoff Cat Track” and “Chalet Express”.
“The Kiefer T-Bar and the runs in the upper mountain are for advanced and expert skiers only”, advises Brian Rode, Marmot’s VP of Marketing.
“Novice and intermediate skiers have 13 high quality runs in the lower mountain to choose from and should not attempt to ride the Kiefer T-Bar this weekend as all runs off the lift are rated as black diamond” says Rode.
The Paradise Chalet will also open on Saturday for the season providing food and beverage services at mid-mountain. The Paradise Chalet has undergone extensive renovations over the summer and there are numerous improvements to Charlie’s Lounge and the cafeteria.
