Gondola Extension Gives Revelstoke Biggest Vertical in North America

The opening of an extension to its long gondola, which initially opened a year ago, will give Revelstoke in British Columbia the biggest lift served vertical in North America when it opens tomorrow, Saturday December 20th.
The extended lift will provide 1,713m (5,620 feet) of vertical, overtaking long time holder of the “Biggest lift served vertical in North America holder, Whistler with its 1609m tally.
The extended gondola also provides access to new intermediate and advanced terrain below the resort’s Day Lodge. The lift opens up a massive new area of lift-accessed terrain in the resort’s North Bowl area including four new intermediate runs and two new areas of glades.
The new Leitner-Poma lift services a total of 900 new acres and provides lift access for the upper North Bowl and Greely Bowl, in combination with The Stoke Chair.
Revelstoke has received RMR received 195cm (6.5 feet) of snow so far this autumn and will double its lift served terrain available to more than 3,000 acres this winter as well as uniquely providing both snowcat and helicopter accessed terrain this winter.
