Crucial Route To Whistler Ski Resort Reopens
Monday, August 4th, 2008

A roadway that is crucial link between the city of Vancouver and the popular Whistler ski resort has been reopened after being closed due to a rockslide.
Close to 2,000 tonnes of rock is believed to have shifted on to the Sea to Sky Highway last month, which has left one of Canada’s best-loved ski resorts inaccessible for hundreds of people.
A report from the CTV news provider in Canada suggests that the normally busy Whistler resort has been left virtually deserted after the transport link was blocked off.
The resort and the associated complex attract tourists from around the world to enjoy relatively cheap ski holidays and local businesses have been very pleased to hear the highway has been reopened.
Whistler will be among the venues hosting competitors in the Winter Olympic Games, which are to be staged in and around Vancouver in two years’ time.
