Friday, January 8th, 2010
There’s been heavy snow in the Alps overnight with more snow falling at present in many resorts.

The heaviest snowfall has been reported by resorts in the southern Alps of France and Italy with some small centres claiming as much as a metre (3.3 feet) of new snow. Limone reports 70cm (2.3 feet) of powder.
Of the bigger resorts, Les Orres in France has had 50cm (20 inches), Bormio and Cortina in the Dolomites 40cm (16 inches) each and St Moritz 25cm (10 inches). Les 2 Alpes and St Sorlin d’Arves in France have had 20cm (8 inches) each.
There has been heavy snow across the Atlantic too with resorts on the Western side off North America reporting falls of up to two feet (60cm) in recent days, including Whistler and on the East Coast a big storm has brought record accumulations to some areas and heavy snow to Killington in Vermont.
