Lech Loves Snow
Friday, November 9th, 2007
Although the resort is not due to open until December, Austrian ski centre Lech is boasting a thick coat of snow already.
Since yesterday, strong snowfall has gifted Lech with an impressively hefty blanket, reports the Ski Club of Great Britain.
Some 20 cm of snow is expected to fall in the resort on Friday, with another metre forecast for the weekend.
The situation in Lech mirrors that across the whole of the country, indicating that Austria may be a good choice for ski breaks this winter.
"Snow has fallen across Austria this week transforming many resorts into winter wonderlands," the club states.
With slopes stretching to an altitude of between 1,400 and 2,450 metres, Lech is said to be frequented by some of the most glamorous figures in the world of ski – including the princes William and Harry.
Snow is also said by the Ski Club to be forecast for Saas Fee over the weekend.
