Austrian Ski Area Gets Makeover
Friday, August 1st, 2008

An upgrade of one of the largest skiing areas in Austria has been completed.
The Gastein Snowpark, which opened last year, has been redesigned with the assistance of experts in the field, Skiclub.co.uk reports.
Officials at the park - which attracts both skiers and boarders - consulted the people behind the design of parks such as Intersport NovaPark and the Burton Superpark for the project.
Improvements to the Stubnerkogel-based site include a greater emphasis on beginner-friendly facilities, though further work is to be completed on features for the more experienced skier.
According to Onboardsnowboarding.com, the Gastein Valley is an excellent location for freeriding, with wide spaces available in the backcountry.
The bad Gastein region is also attractive to those who enjoy a dip in warm thermal springs, with more than 17 in the locality.
For a break from the piste, visitors can take a 90-miinute drive to neighbouring Salzburg.
