Strengthening Pound Should Make Ski Holidays Cheaper

Snow24, an independent company which monitors ski lift tickets at resorts worldwide has reported that lift ticket prices for 2009-10 are currently lower than those for 2008-9 for most destinations for British residents.
“We’ve already recorded more than 100 new season prices for ski resorts next winter,†said Snow24’s Patrick Thorne, who edits their annual publication, The World Ski Lift Ticket Price Report.
“The strengthening British pound means that although there have been modest rises of a few Euros at most resorts, the pound buys nearly 10% more Euro than it did at its low point last ski season, leading to a saving of about £15 on the average six day lift ticket price overall for British buyers.â€
Mr Thorne noted that no one new which was currency exchange rates would move over the next six months, however he did point out that many resorts now allow skiers and boarders to purchase their lift tickets in advance online, so it may be worth keeping an eye on exchange rates so that if the trend turns against the pound later in the year, tickets are secured in advanced at the most favourable rate.
