Andorra Skiing To Be Boosted By Airport
Friday, September 21st, 2007
Those looking to enjoy ski holidays in Andorra look set to benefit from improved travel connections, it has been reported.
According to Articlesbase, an agreement has been made to build an airport 15 minutes drive away from the Spain-Andorra border.
Nestled between France and Spain, Andorra is located in the mountain range of the eastern Pyrenees. A 2007 estimate from the Central Intelligence Agency listed the country’s residents as having the highest life expectancy in the world.
"When people are considering a ski holiday in Andorra at the moment to reach Soldeu, one of Andorra top ski villages, it’s two and a half hours from Barcelona to the capital la Vella," a travel guide is quoted by Articlesbase as saying.
The guide adds that reducing resort arrival time from three hours to one will "be enough to influence some people’s decision on where to visit".
According to the article, the airport will be built in Seu d’Urgell with the first flights anticipated to be available from 2010 or 2011.
