Andorra Opens Early
Thursday, November 20th, 2008
Andorra’s two ski areas of GrandValira and Vallnord, which contain the resort villages of Soldeu, Pas de la Casa, Arinal, Pal and La Massana, have both announced they will open a week early, this Saturday, 22nd November.
The decision follows huge snowfalls in the Pyrenees which has led snow depths at what some are claiming to be the best ever at this time of year. Certainly they are the best start to the winter for at least three seasons in the principality.
GrandValira will open with 60km (36 miles) of piste open across four sectors with snow depths of up to a metre.
VallNord has similar volumes of snow. It will open over the weekend and then close during next week before reopening on the 29th – the date both resorts had planned to open – right through to April or May.
