St Christoph Austria
Resort Height:
1800m
The St Anton region has more than 100 years of skiing tradition and is considered by many to be one of the best ski areas in the world, encompassing not only St Anton but also Lech, Zurs, Stuben, Sonnenkopf and St Christoph. With over 260km of pisted runs and massive off-piste opportunities, the Arlberg area has something to keep even the most advanced skiers and boarders entertained.
St Christoph is a much smaller resort than St Anton with a quiet, intimate atmosphere, popular with families and couples looking for tranquil surroundings and the convenience of doorstep skiing and quick access to the amazing Arlberg ski area.
BeginnersSt Christoph is the more suitable option for beginners thanks to its nursery area next to the Sporthotel. The well-respected Arlberg ski school teaches beginners here before coaching them onto the blue Maiensee I & II runs. St Anton has nursery slopes near the Fang lift but few easy uncrowded runs for beginners to progress onto.
IntermediateThe ski area offers a wealth of blue and red runs to test and improve good intermediate skiers. The choice of lengthy runs is plentiful allowing you to explore all of the Arlberg region.
AdvancedOutstanding! This ski area will provide all that an advanced skier could wish for with a large and varied amount of pisted runs that are backed up by extensive off-piste opportunities. The world-famous Valluga off-piste terrain attracts expert skiers from across the globe.
SnowboardingThis is one of the best freeride areas in the world with lots of steep terrain and natural jumps. There are terrain parks in Lech and Zurs which have a half-pipe, quarter pipe and rail slides. This area is a great destination for good snowboarders.
Apres SkiSt Anton is a large, spread out resort with a great choice of bars, restaurants and shops. It’s renowned for its lively après-ski which starts from mid-afternoon in the piste-side bars. By late afternoon, most bars in resort are in full swing, many open ‘til late. Eight kilometres up the road, the friendly hamlet of St Christoph is no more than a handful of large hotels at the foot of some gentle slopes. This is the place to head for sedate, relaxing evenings in, with perhaps an occasional evening outing to St Anton by taxi.
ChildrenChildren are well catered for in St Christoph. The Sporthotel provides free childcare, as well as babysitting for younger babies and children (0-3yrs). There is a special ski kindergarten for children 3-5yrs situated just outside the Sporthotel.
