Kitzbüheler Alps ski area stretches from Pass Thurn to Kirchberg, covering more than 160km of pisted runs and incorporating the famous slopes of Kitzbühel. With the opening of the new gondola between Pengelstein and Jochberg in 2004/05, this extensive and varied ski area is now completely interlinked by a modern and efficient lift system. There is also a regular free ski bus connecting the whole area. Intermediates will be spoilt for choice with so many reds. Beginners will not feel left out either with the superb ski schools and a choice of wide open blue runs to progress to.

Apres Ski:
Kitzbühel can be as lively as you want it to be with its great choice of après-ski bars, often with live music, staying open until late. You can also enjoy a flutter at Kitzbühel’s very own casino (smart dress required). Although smaller, Kirchberg does not lack in atmosphere with over 20 bars, cafés and discos to choose from.

Children
The ski school in Kirchberg offers a crèche for children from 2 years. Lunch is extra. There is also a skiing kindergarten for children from 4 years which is pre-bookable.

Beginners
Kitzbühel’s nursery slopes are situated at the foot of the Hahnenkamm and also on a sunny plateau on the Kitzbüheler Horn. There are two ski schools operating on both areas each offering superb instruction. Kirchberg also has a first class ski school offering tuition during those tentative few days on the wide open nursery slopes by the Maierl chairlift.

Intermediates
The extent and variety of red and blue runs is unbelievable. The Kitzbüheler Horn slopes are a great place to start from, with several long runs back to the Kitzbühel resort. The connection between the top of the Hahnenkamm cable car and Pengelstein is easily managed giving access to a variety of long, beautiful runs linking this area with Jochberg, Pass Thurn, Kirchberg and Aschau.

Advanced
Even the expert skier will find plenty of challenges throughout the 160km of pistes. There are a number of steep black runs to choose from and some great off-piste skiing. The most testing terrain is found underneath the Zweitausender (Pass Thurn) chairlift where a north-facing, deeply mogulled 500m drop will certainly test the thighs!

Snowboarding
Snowboarders have a great area to explore. Some of the best freeride slopes can be found around Fleckalm and Pengelstein – ideal for high speed cruising, while across the valley the Kitzbüheler Horn offers a variety of gullies, a fun park and weather conditions permitting, a half-pipe, boarder cross and rail.
